Description Paediatrics is the medicine dealing with the health of infants, children and adolescents, plus their growth and development. The doctor is called a paediatrician.
There are however, some specialised doctors in other medical areas who also handle child pathologies.
The paediatrician’s role is to listen and advise and if needed will refer your child to a specialised doctor.
It is however possible to directly consult a specialist - to do so you can contact the children’s Lenval hospital in Nice. See section: Health and Safety/children’s hospitals.
Below is a list of the kinds of doctors who work at the hospital: Algologist, Allergist, Dentist, Dermatologist, Dietician, Endocrino-diabetologue, Gastro-enterologist, Hemato-oncologue, Nephrologue, Neuro paediatrician, Obstetrician, Ophthalmologist, Osteopath, ORL (Ear, nose and throat specialist), Paediatrician, Lung specialist, Psychologist, Rheumatologist.
You can also consult your local family G.P. who also has some knowledge as to child related health problems, although the French norm is to seek a paediatrician’s advice.
