Perched on the peninsula of Cap-Ferrat, between Monaco and Nice, Hotel Royal Riviera once again commands centre stage in this exclusive resort. A modern classic, this luxurious hotel provides all the intimacy of a private Mediterranean villa with the luxury and glamour of a palace.
Constructed in 1904, Hotel Royal Riviera as it is known today, has undergone several previous incarnations, including The Bedford Residence and The Bedford Hotel. Originally intended to provide a residence hôtelière, a time-share for the British aristocracy.
Grace Leo-Andrieu, the renowned hotelier behind such properties as the Lancaster in Paris, was appointed as management consultant in January 1999, her objective to create a new identity and style in keeping with The Royal Riviera's Grande Dame standing, as well as provide the latest modern conveniences and comforts for its clientele.
The Grand Salon is a spectacular sun-drenched room with high ceilings accented by wall paintings in warm tones of sienna reds and browns with Greek motif friezes. Bas relief on the walls and checkered marble floor patterns add to this "clin d'oil" to the Villa Kerylos across the Baie des Fourmis, which served as an inspiration to the new décor.
The lobby area gives an idea of grandeur. the marble floor with checkered black and white tiling, the pale green wooden panels at the reception Front of the house staff are multilingual and helpful, concierge service is guaranteed 24 hours a day.
The hotel's landscaping has also undergone a change as part of the overall renovations. A strong departure from the hotel's former outdoor space, the jardin Renaissance designed by renowned landscape architect Jean Mus, invites guests to wander under the orange trees and around the lavender bushes, smell the lime-verbena, and stroll along the olive trees to the belvedere for a breathtaking view on the Baie des Fourmis and the Villa Kerylos - a truly Provençal experience.
