Triathlon international de Nice - Ironman France
The 28th June 2009 in Nice
Can you take it? The Ironman France - Nice Triathlon (or just Ironman) has over the years become the world championship for long-distance triathlons. Triathletes will cover the official distances, with 3,8km swimming, 180km cycling and 42,195km on foot. The Ironman France-Nice will begin on the mythical Centenaire beach along Nice's famous esplanade, the Promenade des Anglais. The event will begin with the swimming competition, followed by cycling and ending with a foot-race - the finishing line will be further along the esplanade, near Verdun avenue. Over 50 different countries will be represented this year, thanks to the 1 500 participating triathletes. Previous editions have already lauded some of the greatest champions of our generation, such as Mark Allen, Mike Pigg, Yves Cordier, Rob Barel, Paula Newby-Fraser and Isabelle Mouthon. Having made itself a major challenge among triathlon clubs, this event has become the single most important european race in this particular domain.
