The 13th July 2008 in Monaco
The royal orchestra celebrates 150 years! Presided over by H.R.H. the Princess of Hanovre with ongoing support by the Prince Ranier III, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte-Carlo (or the National Orchestra of the Opera of Monte-Carlo), founded in 1856, doesn't have to worry about their international renown. Recognized as one of the great international orchestras, it has been directed by some of the top names in classical music, including: Toscanini, Mitropoulos, Walter, Richard Strauss and more recently Mehta, Kubelik, Sir George Solti and Maazel. Sicne 2000, Marek Janowski has taken over the direction of the orchestra, which today counts 100 musicians. The 2006-2007 season celebrates the 150 anniversary of the Orchestra. With each extraordinary adventure, exceptional events will take place. In order to achieve this goal, the program for the season will be particularly original and ambitious!
